Skate FAQs Redux
Day 1: March 13, 2002
As some of you may have long realized, Skate FAQs has not gotten much updating for many years now. Even so, the site has gotten constant traffic, and email still constantly flow in with comments and questions. I still get at least one skating email per day on average. Over the course of many years, this adds up to quite a hefty mailbox.
I apologize to everyone who hasn't gotten a reply from me yet. Having been on the Internet for over 10 years with the same address, my name must be on every spammers mailing list. It's an uphill battle trying to filter out spam these days. I used to get around 1000-1500 emails per week, of which 99% was spam. I've managed to block them somewhat, but the spammers always slip a few through the cracks each day.
Anyway, from my digressions, you can probably tell this is not so much a skating article, as it is a slice-of-some-poor-schmuck's-life article. This is due in large part to having done very little skating in the past 5 years or so. I've been spending more time moving, than anything else. In the past 6 years, there's been 8 address changes for me. Yes, it does drive you insane, so I don't recommend it highly 8-).
On the upside, I'm now a pro at packing, moving, and relocating, which will come in handy some day, but I'd really much rather be skating. As my roller-sweetie says, "This moving stops now!".
So now that I've stopped being a nomad, how did the Skate FAQ guy become a non-skater? And how is he going to be reborn as an inline skater again? I'm not sure, but we'll find out together!
Skate FAQs is dead, long live Skate FAQs!
